One and a Half Men

Can Two and Half Men Ever be the Same?

Watching Charlie Sheen's Today Show interview, complete with flailing arms, dirty hair, and two live-in porn stars -please, that girl's a "model" like I'm the Pope- and I can't help but think back to another 'Charlie' who lived in a free love environment where the housemates defiantly celebrated and promoted their "everyone has a vote" lifestyle to the disbelieving public. The three subjects in the video even have the same glossy-stare as the other Charlie and his followers did over forty years ago.

It's spooky. Give him a guitar and some facial hair and it's like you're looking at the second coming. Not that that kind of tragedy will befall these three, but it's quite possible a different one, with equally devastating consequences for the families, will occur in the days to come if this guy doesn't get some help. And pronto.

Forget Two and Half Men, where's the crew of Intervention? That seems to be more urgent than a sitcom at this point.

Even if they were to resume shooting, will the American public just forget about the images -and, maybe more importantly, the beliefs- Sheen's voluntarily participated in putting forth to his fans?
After all, we're not talking about some third-party gossip in the Enquirer here. We're talking about a man at the height of an obvious out-of-control drug habit inviting cameras and reporters in to his living space on a daily basis to chronicle his descent into oblivion.

Does the public love his show that much they'll just go back to suspending their disbelief that real life Charlie doesn't exist when they yell "Action?" Knowing what I know now, I couldn't watch the show until he gets some help.

And what about his sons? Where's Child Protective Services? Not that two teenage porn stars can't be good mommies, but how effective can they be when they're naked with a crack pipe in their mouths? FYI, I read that the police finally removed them from the house. duh.

My heart goes out to his father and brother who have to watch this play out in the media. I just hope we're not tuning in to CBS next September to watch One and a Half Men.
